interested in becoming a volunteer?

Volunteer Program Update: Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Heights and Hills! Currently, we strongly prefer volunteers who live and/or can travel to the following Brooklyn neighborhoods: Flatbush, East Flatbush, East New York, Crown Heights, and Bedford Stuyvesant. Although we encourage all to apply, please be advised there will be a wait if you have other neighborhood preferences. Please continue to check the volunteer page for future updates!

We are currently accepting new volunteer applications for all programs! Please reach out to us at volunteer@heightsandhills.org or fill out our Volunteer Application Form and we will contact you.

Register to our upcoming volunteer trainings: Sept. 21 & Sept. 18 (Friendly Visiting only)

Heights and Hills volunteers provide friendship and support to frail and homebound older adults in 19 diverse Brooklyn communities. They visit, go for walks, assist with grocery shopping, chat about art and cultural events, or help master a new smartphone.

They also teach classes at the Park Slope Center for Successful Aging, help serve our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, and escort older adults to medical appointments – while young people participating in our intergenerational programs become pen pals or send birthday cards to brighten the lives of older neighbors.

We recognize that each volunteer’s availability and goals are different so we offer many ways to make a difference.
