caregiver support groups

 

Heights and Hills is proud to offer a variety of support groups for those caring for a loved one or friend who is age 60 or older.

These groups can help a family caregiver:

  • Know you are not alone
  • Have a safe space to express fears and frustrations
  • Share valuable information with other caregivers
  • Gain emotional support from a group of peers
  • Be guided by a social worker with expertise in dealing with the many and unique challenges of being a caregiver

General Caregiver Support Group

Meets on Zoom in cycles of six sessions on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 3:00PM-4:30PM EST.

This is an open group for those who are helping care for an older adult and are looking to connect with other caregivers in a supportive environment. For more information or to register, contact Suzanne Roberts, LMSW at sroberts@heightsandhills.org.

Parkinson’s Care Partners Support Group

Meets on Zoom on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 12:00PM-2:00PM EST.

Long-Distance Caregiving Support Group

Meets on Zoom on the first and third Monday of the month, 6:00PM-7:30PM EST.

This support group addresses the practical and emotional needs of those who are helping care for an older relative who lives in a different city or state. For more information, contact Michael Rublin at 718-596-8789 ext. 330 or  mrublin@heightsandhills.org.


Telephonic Support Group 

A support group from the comfort of your own telephone! Meets Thursdays, 7:00PM-8:30PM EST, in 6-week sessions.

Virtual Support Groups

We continue to offer various new caregiver support groups over Zoom. These groups run in sessions of 6 to 12 weeks and vary in their day and time to try to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
