friendly visitors
It takes only an hour or two a week to give someone the gift of friendship – simply by calling, visiting, listening, remembering a birthday, and being there to lend a helping hand.
Friendly Visitors commit to six months of weekly visits, with some visiting relationships now going on four years. We match Friendly Visitor volunteers with frail and homebound older adults in 35 Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Volunteers are interviewed, receive appropriate training, and are then matched with requests from older adults. Once a match is made, we continue to monitor the relationship, offering guidance and advice.
Please email Friendly Visiting Coordinator, Abbie, at abroughton@heightsandhills.org for more information about becoming a Friendly Visitor.
